THE ADVENT WREATH

During Advent, candles are lit as a sign of hope,
Not just a ritual of piety but a way to cope.
It’s a political act and a subversive stance,
A beacon of faith in the world’s circumstance.

Lighting a candle is not just a religious deed,
But a prophetic act of what the world might need.
In the face of darkness, it boldly proclaims,
That God is still Lord, despite worldly claims.

Amidst the chaos that tries to dissuade,
The flicker of hope will never fade.
“All will be well,” the candle declares,
A symbol of peace amid worldly affairs.

It speaks to the heart and strengthens the soul,
Reminding us that our faith can make us whole.
For every candle lit on the Advent wreath,
Shines a light of hope and a spark of belief.

So let us light candles, one by one,
A testament of faith until the night is done.
For in their glow, we find the grace to say,
That hope remains, come what may.
