COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS
Lord, thank you for this sink of dirty dishes,
For the bounty of food that fills our wishes.
Thank you for the pile of laundry so high,
For the clothes we wear with a satisfied sigh.
Thank you for the taxes I must pay,
And the job that employs me every day.
Thank you for the mess after a party,
And friends who make my life so hearty.
Thank you for clothes a bit too snug,
After lots of cookies and my coffee mug.
Thank you for complaints about our land,
A result of free speech and rights that stand.
Thank you for my muscles weary and sore,
For the work I accomplish and so much more.
Thank you for mornings so loud and wild,
For the love and laughter of my family and child.
Thank you for the table messy and bare,
For the meals we’ve shared with love and care.
Thank you for all the gifts you’ve given,
For a life so full and a heart that’s risen.
