A young man in Junior High school and his father were alone together on a fishing trip.

Out of the clear blue the son asked: “Dad, what is the toughest thing God ever tried to do?” The father had no idea what to say, so he asked his son, “What do you think it was?”

The young man responded, “I’m taking science in school, so I thought the creation of the universe with all the galaxies, stars and planets  was the hardest thing God ever tried to do.

“But then in religion class, we were talking about miracles. So I thought that Jesus’ miracles and resurrection might be the toughest thing God ever did. But I decided that no one knows God very well. So now I think it was to get us to understand who God is and how much God loves us.”

The father thought for a while and said: “You’re right. That is the hardest thing God ever tried to do. And there was only one way God could do it. He sent his own Son to be born in a stable and to die on a cross.”

John the Baptist on this Third Sunday of Advent in the Gospel (Luke 3: 10-18) says, “I indeed baptize you with water; but there will come one mightier than I, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to loose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit, and with fire.”

Jesus is born again in you and me when we smile at someone who has darted ahead of us in line. Jesus is born again in you and me when we find the courage to send a Christmas card to someone we crossed out from our lives. Let Jesus be born again in you this Christmas!

Do send a Christmas card to someone who will be most surprised to get one from YOU.

JESUS IS THE ONLY GIFT THAT PERFECTLY FITS THE SIZE OF YOUR HEART!
