Three Things to remember:

Silence is the best answer to many questions.
A smile is the best response in many situations.
Walking away is the best reply to disrespect.

My Commentary:

There is great wisdom in knowing when to speak, when to smile, and when to walk away.

We often believe every question deserves an answer, every criticism requires a defense, and every insult demands a response. Jesus showed us another way.

There were moments when Jesus spoke courageously and confronted injustice. But there were also moments when He remained silent. Before Pilate and His accusers, Jesus did not answer every charge. His silence was not weakness. It was strength under control. He knew that some arguments are not worth having and some people are not really interested in hearing an answer.

A smile can also be a quiet expression of grace. We never know what burden another person is carrying. A simple smile can say, “I see you. You matter. I wish you well.” It costs nothing, yet sometimes it changes someone’s day.

And then there is walking away from disrespect. Christianity does not require us to remain in every argument or tolerate every hurtful encounter. Jesus taught us to forgive, but forgiveness does not mean allowing another person’s anger to control us. Sometimes the most peaceful response is simply to leave.

The difficult part is knowing which response the moment requires.
Should I speak?
Should I smile?
Should I walk away?
That is where prayer and wisdom enter.

Before reacting, perhaps we should quietly ask, “Jesus, what would love have me do right now?”
Sometimes love speaks boldly.
Sometimes love smiles gently.
Sometimes love quietly walks away.
And sometimes the most Christian response we can make is no response at all —  leaving the final word to God.
