Everyone sees a different side of me.
To some, I’m warm, caring, and easy to be around.
To others, I may seem distant, quiet,
Or even difficult.
Some know me as someone who talks endlessly,
While others only know my silence.
But none of that means I’m a different person.
Sometimes, people simply bring out different parts of us,
Depending on the way they treat us,
The respect they show,
And how safe we feel around them.
The way you treat me often determines
Which version of me you get to know.
From Soulful Words
My Commentary:
Have you ever noticed how differently we behave around different people?
Some people bring out our laughter. Others bring out our silence. Some make us feel loved and accepted. Others make us feel judged, inadequate, or afraid.
We are the same person, but relationships can reveal different parts of us.
Jesus understood this. He encountered sinners, outcasts, and people who had been rejected by society. Yet His kindness often brought out goodness that others had never bothered to see.
Think of Zacchaeus. People saw a dishonest tax collector. Jesus saw a man capable of generosity and transformation.
Jesus did not define people by their worst moments. He helped them discover their better selves.
That is what Jesus is calling you and me to do.
Before judging someone’s personality, ask what our own behavior might be bringing out in them.
Are YOU creating fear or trust? Criticism or confidence? Distance or friendship?
THE GREATEST GIFT YOU CAN GIVE ANOTHER PERSON IS HELPING THEM BECOME THE BEAUTIFUL PERSON GOD CREATED THEM TO BE!
