673,000,000 people face extreme hunger every day.

2,300,000,000 people lack access to safe, nutritious food (1 in 4).

2,800,000,000 people cannot afford a healthy diet.

2,300,000,000 people lack safe drinking water (1 in 4).

4,000,000,000 people experience water scarcity for at least a month a year.

1,800,000,000 people, mostly women and girls, walk miles to collect safe drinking water.

839,000,000 people live in extreme, absolute poverty (1 in 10). Less than $3.00 a day.

773,000,000 adults cannot read or write.

45,000,000 young children suffer from extreme malnutrition (1 in 3 under the age of 5).

3,000,000 children die of hunger-related causes each year.

Yet….890,000,000 people in our world are living with obesity.

As Joseph Stalin once said: “The death of one person is a tragedy, the death of millions of people is a statistic.”

If a monkey hoarded more bananas than it could eat, while most of the other monkeys starved, scientists would study that monkey to figure out what was wrong with it.
