Too often, we think that giving our lives to God is like taking a $1,000 bill and laying it on the altar, saying, “Here’s my life, Lord. I’m giving it all to you.”
But the truth of the matter is that God sends us to the bank and tells us to cash that $1,000 bill in for quarters. And then we go through life giving away twenty-five cents here, fifty cents there, and so on.
Instead of watching a ball game, we spend some time visiting a lonely person in a nursing home who has no family.
Instead of sipping coffee and staring at our smart phone, we get dressed and go to teach Sunday school.
Instead of playing games on the computer, we listen to a friend tell us about her problems, even though we’re tired and have problems of our own to deal with.
These are the moments in which the grace of God can work through us to help another human being, to feed the hunger of the heart and spirit.
They may not be spectacular miracles, but these are the things we can do to bring meaning and significance to our lives.

My Commentary:
Many people dream of doing one great thing for God. But Jesus teaches that the Christian life is usually lived through countless small acts of love.
We imagine placing a thousand-dollar gift on God’s altar. Instead, He asks us to spend our lives one quarter at a time. A visit to a lonely neighbor. A word of encouragement. A meal for someone in need. A patient ear for a hurting friend. These ordinary moments become extraordinary when they are offered with love.
Jesus never suggested that greatness is measured by fame or applause. He said that even giving a cup of cold water in His name has eternal value. God delights in faithfulness more than fanfare.
The world often overlooks these quiet acts of kindness, but heaven never does. Every sacrifice, no matter how small, reflects the heart of Christ.
A meaningful life is not built by one dramatic gesture. It is built by thousands of loving choices, each one allowing God’s grace to flow through us to someone who needs it most. Every quarter spent in love is an investment in God’s Kingdom.
