OLD AGE, A REWARDING TIME
Old age can be a most rewarding time,
Where life’s sweet music turns to rhyme.
The birds sing sweeter, with clearer tune,
The winds blow softer, beneath the moon.
The sun shines more radiantly bright,
Casting a warm, even golden light.
My “outward person” may slowly fade,
But my “inward person” is joyously made.
As the years begin to show,
A deeper strength and beauty grow.
The essence shifts from form to soul,
A spiritual strength that makes us whole.
One is temporary, fleeting fast,
The other is forever and meant to last.
God planned this journey, every part,
To lead us gently, from heart to heart.
So embrace the twilight’s gentle hue,
For in its glow, God’s love shines through.
The strength of youth may pass away,
But the spirit’s beauty will always stay.
By Medard Laz from A POEM A DAY TO PRAY 2025. Many people I know tell me they are taking A POEM A DAY TO PRAY 2025 and are discussing one poem with their family each day in 2025.
Most of us who are getting up in age complain about getting old. Getting two new hips and a new right knee was no fun for me. My poem above looks at the positives, and there are many positives. How is YOUR “inward person” blooming as YOU age?
THANK GOD TODAY FOR SIMPLE THINGS, LIKE BEING ALIVE!
