Dear God,

I did not sleep well last night,
but I did wake up.

My muscles are sore,
but they work.

My wallet is not full,
but my belly is.

I may not have all I want,
but I have all I need.

My life is not perfect,
but my life is GOOD.

Thank you!

This is a prayer we should pray often, especially in times like these.

GOD HAS PERFECT TIMING, NEVER EARLY, NEVER LATE!!

My Commentary:

This simple prayer reminds us that gratitude does not require a perfect life. It requires eyes that can still recognize the goodness within an imperfect life.

We may wake up tired, but we woke up. Our bodies may ache, but they still carry us. We may not have everything we desire, but perhaps we have enough for today.

Jesus taught us to pray, “Give us this day our daily bread.” Not tomorrow’s bread. Not everything we might ever want. Just enough grace, strength, food, and courage for today.

Our culture constantly whispers, You need more. More money. More possessions. More success. More comfort.

The Gospel whispers something different: Look again. See what you already have.

A sunrise. A meal. A friend. A memory. Another day to love somebody. Another opportunity to make a difference.

Gratitude does not deny our problems. It simply refuses to let our problems become the whole story.

Perhaps one of the most beautiful prayers we can offer each morning is also one of the shortest: “Thank you, God. My life isn’t perfect. But it is life. And today, that is enough.”

Are you feeling like I am these days?  That it felt more like America a couple of years ago than it does today? This is why I wrote the book  —  WHAT MAKES AMERICA AMERICA.

I have 62 short Chapters. A friend of mine who is well-read on Abraham Lincoln told me my chapter on Lincoln wonderfully captured his spirit.  Here is the link https://a.co/d/00Lyqe1C that will connect you with my Amazon page.
