Lying
There are numerous ways of lying –
all of them bad, some worse.
We can lie by saying nothing.
When silence gives consent to something false,
we must speak up or share the falsehood.
We can lie with looks, gestures, attitudes.
There is the innocent appearance of the experienced deceiver,
the ostentatious salute of the traitor, the wise pose of the ignoramus.
We can even lie by telling the truth – that is,
by telling a piece of the truth instead of
the whole truth, thus giving a wrong impression.

Loving God,
You are the God of truth and light. Help me to walk in honesty—not only in my words, but in my actions, my silence, and my intentions.
When I am tempted to twist the truth, stay silent, or mislead others by my behavior, give me the strength to be courageous and clear.
Teach me to speak with love, to act with integrity, and to reflect your light in a world that often settles for shadows.
Help me be a person others can trust—because I reflect the truth that comes from You.
Amen.
