Imagine sitting at seventy five, looking back on your life, and realizing you never ran into the ocean on a warm summer night because you worried about how your thighs looked.
You never laughed until your stomach hurt because you were too conscious of your smile.
You never let the sun kiss your skin because you wanted to hide your stretch marks.
You never truly let go because the world told you that you had to look perfect first.
Now imagine realizing all of that too late. You’re older, your body is tired, and the chance to dance barefoot in the sand has quietly slipped away.
You see now that you spent so many years hiding, waiting to be “enough,” when in truth, you always were.
Don’t let that be your story. Live now. Laugh now. Swim under the stars. Wear what makes you feel alive. Stop waiting for perfection before you start living.
Because one day, you’ll wish you had realized sooner that you were already everything you needed to be.

My Commentary:
This reflection speaks to a quiet tragedy that affects many people. We spend so much time worrying about how we look that we forget to live.
We wait until we lose weight, until we look younger, until we feel more confident, until everything is just right. Meanwhile, life passes us by. The ocean waits. The laughter waits. The dance floor waits. The people we love wait. And before we know it, the years have slipped away.
Through the eyes of a true Christian, this way of thinking misses a profound truth: your worth has never depended upon your appearance.
God did not create you and then wait for you to become perfect before loving you. He loved you from the beginning. Scripture tells us that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made.” Our value comes not from smooth skin, perfect teeth, or youthful bodies, but from being children of God.
The world constantly tells us that we are not enough. We are too old, too heavy, too wrinkled, too short, too tall, too something. God tells us something very different. He says, “You are my beloved.”
That does not mean we should neglect our health or stop striving to improve ourselves. But there is a difference between growth and self-rejection. Too many people spend their lives hiding because they believe they are not worthy of joy until they become someone else. What a loss.
At seventy-five, few people regret laughing too much, swimming too often, or spending too much time with family and friends. They regret the moments they missed because fear, insecurity, or self-consciousness kept them from embracing life.
Jesus said, “I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”
Abundant life is not found in perfection. It is found in gratitude. It is found in accepting God’s love and then stepping fully into the gift of today.
So laugh. Dance. Walk on the beach. Enjoy the people God has placed in your life.
You do not need to become enough. In God’s eyes, you already are.
Think of the moments YOU missed because fear, insecurity, or self-consciousness kept YOU from embracing life.
GOD’S LOVE IS THE ONLY THING THAT CAN TURN YOUR WORLD UPSIDE DOWN AND MAKE IT A MILLION TIMES BETTER!
