Keeper of the Sacred Trust
A leader’s oath is not to reign,
But to serve the people, to ease their pain.
To guard the light when shadows fall,
And seek the good and peace of all.
Democracy’s a fragile flame,
It needs respect more than acclaim.
Its roots grow strong where truth is sown,
And power’s held, but never owned.
The sacred trust is handed down,
Not worn like jewels or a crown.
It lives where conscience leads the way,
And selfless hearts choose truth to stay.
A faithful hand must heal, not tear,
Must listen first, and lead with care.
For when pride rules and kindness fades,
The pillars crack that freedom made.
So let each servant understand,
They hold the future in their hand.
For nations live when hearts are just,
And leaders guard the people’s trust.

My Commentary:
These words remind us that democracy is not self-sustaining — it depends on the moral integrity of those chosen to lead.
A politician, in the truest sense, is not a ruler but a steward of something greater than themselves: the faith of the people, the fairness of the laws, and the fragile flame of freedom that must be tended, not taken for granted.
To be a keeper of the sacred trust means leading with humility rather than pride, compassion rather than control, and conscience rather than convenience.
It calls for listening more than speaking, serving more than boasting, and uniting more than dividing.
In every age, the temptation for leaders is to see power as a possession — something to grasp and guard.
But democracy asks for the opposite: to let go, to share, to balance, to be accountable.
When a politician lives this calling with sincerity, they become not just an official, but a moral anchor — one who reminds us that freedom is a shared covenant, renewed by every act of integrity and care.
