The leaders of our country need to start looking to Jesus to discover what true leadership is all about.

Jesus was a trustworthy leader because he embodied servant leadership, aligning his actions with his teachings through humility, unconditional love, and integrity.

His leadership focused on serving others, not personal gain, and was marked by consistent truthfulness, compassion for all people, and a firm commitment to his mission – which was to try and get you and me and many others to be with him forever in heaven.

Key aspects of Jesus’ leadership include:

  • Servant Leadership: Jesus modeled service by performing humble tasks, such as washing his disciples’ feet, and placing the needs of others above his own.
  • Unconditional Love and Inclusion: He accepted all people regardless of status or background, showing no favoritism. He sat with the Samaritan woman at the well.
  • Integrity and Consistency: Jesus was a “faithful witness” who acted in accordance with God’s truth, avoiding the hypocrisy seen in other leaders. He warned his disciples to avoid the hypocrisy of the Pharisees, asserting that all hidden actions will eventually be revealed.
  • Purpose-Driven Focus: He was not distracted by popularity or power, maintaining a clear focus on his mission. Jesus never checked the polls. Jesus spoke about the “plank in your own eye,” urging people to examine themselves before criticizing others.
  • Compassion and Accessibility: He made time for individuals, even when facing a busy schedule, demonstrating that everyone is valuable. Jesus stopped whatever he was doing to heal the person right in front of him.
  • Forgiveness: Retribution never crossed the mind of Jesus, even though he was God. “Father forgive them, for they know not what they do,” were the last words out of his mouth.

During this Easter Week I cannot help but notice the people on TV who proudly wear gold crosses around their necks.

Jesus died on a cross of wood saying “Love your enemies!”  The people on TV wearing gold crosses are not saying this at all. They keep telling us who our enemies are, and not to love them, but to hate them, get rid of them and kill them.

Please listen and reflect on the words that are coming out of YOUR mouth this Easter Week. Do they reflect the words of Jesus hanging on a cross of wood? Or do they sound more like the words of the people wearing the gold crosses on TV?

Is getting to heaven YOUR goal as a Christian? Does what’s in your mind and heart reflect this goal? Getting to heaven should be what Easter is all about!

WE OUGHT TO LIVE AS IF JESUS DIED YESTERDAY, ROSE THIS MORNING AND IS COMING BACK THIS AFTERNOON!
