I WISH I WAS A LITTLE KID OF TEN
I wish I was a little kid of ten
With someone to take care of me again.
Someone to clean up all my messes,
To guide me through life’s tangled presses.
I want someone to remind me what’s right,
To steer me clear, to keep me in sight.
To yell at me before I fall,
To watch my steps, to heed my call.
I want to be held in loving arms,
Shielded from life’s harsh alarms.
To cry my heart out, free from fear,
In someone’s embrace, warm and near.
But now I stand, grown and tall,
Facing the world, through it all.
Yet in my heart, the child remains,
Seeking comfort in life’s gains and pains.
So while I walk this path alone,
I carry those wishes, deeply sown.
For the child within, still seeks the care,
Of a loving heart, that is always there.
