An elderly woman was filling out an application for admission to a retirement village.
She was very nervous answering all the questions about her health. She finally finished the forms and signed her name. She then filled in the place where it asked for her current address. After ZIP she printed firmly, NORMAL FOR MY AGE!
How about your ZIP? Is it normal for your age? A lot of times we feel that all our ZIP has gotten up and gone. At 80 years of age, I know I have lost a lot of my ZIP.
In today’s Gospel (Mark 6:7-13) Jesus sends out his twelve Apostles and says to take nothing with them on their journey – no food, no traveling bag, no money, not even a change of clothes. They went out and they were very effective. They expelled many demons, preached the need for repentance, anointed the sick and worked many cures. Sounds like they had a lot of ZIP.
They trusted the Lord completely. GOD PROVIDES FOR THOSE GOD GUIDES! BUT YOU HAVE TO LET GOD GUIDE YOUR LIFE before God can provide for you! Jesus is also saying that everything you need for your journey through life, you have already been given. Jesus is challenging what we so often think or say: “Lord, I am so limited as one person….Lord, my boat is so small and the ocean is so immense.” God cannot provide for us unless we FIRST let God guide us.

When was the last time YOU felt that YOUR boat was too small and the ocean was so immense? Did YOU let God guide YOU, so God could provide for YOU?
GOD PROVIDES FOR THOSE GOD GUIDES! BUT FIRST YOU HAVE TO LET GOD DO THE GUIDING OF YOUR LIFE!
Two Messages on a Sunday is not a bad deal. Do share this one.
