If you’re feeling frightened about what comes next,
Don’t be.
Embrace the uncertainty.
Allow it to lead you places.
Be brave as it challenges you
To exercise both your heart and your mind
As you create your own path toward happiness.
Don’t waste time with regret
Spin wildly into your next action.
Enjoy the present, each moment, as it comes,
Because you’ll never get another one quite like it.
And if you should ever look up and find yourself lost,
Simply take a breath and start over.
Retrace your steps
And go back to the purest place in your heart….
Where your hope lives.
You’ll find your way again.
From Everwood
How have YOU been embracing uncertainty in your life in the midst of all going on in our world? What places does the uncertainty lead YOU to?
WHEN YOU FEEL THAT NO ONE UNDERSTANDS YOU, TURN TO THE ONE WITH SCARS ON HIS HANDS!
My Commentary:
This reflection reminds us that much of life is lived in the unknown. The future rarely unfolds exactly the way we expect, and that uncertainty can sometimes frighten us. Yet the message here invites us to see uncertainty not as an enemy, but as an open doorway.
When we embrace the unknown, we allow life to lead us to places we might never have discovered otherwise. Growth often happens when we step beyond the comfortable and familiar. The heart learns compassion. The mind learns wisdom. Together they guide us along a path that slowly becomes our own.
The passage also reminds us not to live chained to regret. Regret keeps our eyes fixed on yesterday, while life is happening right now. Every moment carries its own beauty, its own opportunity, its own grace. Once a moment passes, it never returns in quite the same way again.
And there is a gentle reassurance for those times when we feel lost. Everyone experiences moments when the road ahead becomes unclear. In those moments, the best response is often the simplest: pause, breathe, and begin again. Return to the quiet center within you — the place where hope still lives.
From that place, direction slowly returns. Hope has a remarkable way of lighting the path forward. And when we trust that light, we discover that even after confusion or uncertainty, we can always find our way again.
