WE ONCE HELD TO WHAT WAS RIGHT
When did we lose the simple art,
Of treating others with a kind heart?
Though we may disagree or fight,
We once still held to what was right.
Respect and courtesy fade away,
Replaced by harshness in what we say.
From leaders down to an online spat,
Basic decency seems to fall flat.
Honesty and manners seem now rare,
With no accountability or care.
What once was wrong, we now defend,
As if true kindness was just a pretend.
The things we taught to children young,
To hold their tongues when words were flung,
Are now dismissed as weakness, plain,
While cruelty, it seems, must ever reign.
Civility, once held so high,
Has faded as we let it die.
But we must mourn and seek to mend,
A world where kindness should never end.
